Intention 2026

Set your Intentions and keep the momentum going!

Intentions and keeping momentum by Jim Montrose, Ayurvedic Specialist and BMHS guru, January 2026

Did you set your intentions for 2026? Approximately 70% set intentions, resolutions or goals each year; yet 87% of those setting goals completely abandon them by February 15th.

Simple ways to improve your chances: 1) Write them down. 2) Review regularly. 3) Get accountable. 4) choose smaller steps that move you towards the bigger changes. And 5) knowing why you’re doing them.

We had a great intention workshop last Saturday. If you did them on your own or joined us, congratulations!

Setting intentions
Refining Intention 2026
Fueling the intentions

You have done the “hard work” confronting the blank page to create your intentions for 2026.

And now the execution begins, the part most fail to do, and the real fulfillment of intentions the journey along the way to the end result.

Good execution starts with conscious awareness of where you are in relation to the desired end point, what your next steps are and any changes to stay on course or regain the course.

My most influential interventions are:

  1. Constant Review and refinement of intentions. Daily, weekly, monthly plans, review, aligned actions, and refinement to adapt to changes and learning as I do.
  2. Act in alignment, match intentions with your values and most effective way to reach the end point.
  3. Think of sculpting the intentions to reach the least effort, most direct path to results.
  4. Have Fun! (We work quicker and more effectively when we are happy.)
  5. Bring your best self, your enthusiasm and love!
  6. Practice loving kindness for self and others.
  7. Remain focused on your end point.

Remember Life is not satisfying without meaning and more importantly fulfillment. Chasing money, power, and fame is seductive but often leaves one asking, “Is that all there is?”

Lasting fulfillment is an internal process of aligning your actions with your values, nurturing deep connections, and pursuing meaningful growth. This is known as eudaimonic happiness and is you when you are functioning well or living meaningfully.

Versus short term hedonic happiness (pleasure, enjoyment, and the absence of pain.) This is instant gratification and feeling good, a nice respite in life but not sustainable.

Fulfillment comes by balancing core activity in the following areas (the BodyMind, Heart and Soul practices):

  1. Create BodyMind Well-being

A healthy body supports a resilient mind and everything we attempt in life. Participate in daily physical activity 20-30 minutes to energize and release mood enhancing hormones, get 7.5 -9 hours of sleep to maintain rejuvenation and mental stability, and treat yourself first with self-compassion.

  1. Challenge yourself to live in Growth and Excellence

Humans have an innate desire to learn and improve. Set meaningful SMART intentions that challenge you and embrace the journey of learning and growing, which is the real fulfillment, rather than just the result, and engage 100% to reach flow states of effort and achievement.

  1. Live Authentically and curate Relationships for Heart felt living

Scientific research, like the Harvard Study of Adult Development, identifies quality relationships as the strongest predictor of long-term health and fulfillment. Curate energizing and supportive people, and engaging positive communities, minimizing draining or toxic relationships.

  1. Find Purpose and Service to balance the Spiritual dimension

Meaning often comes from contributing to something larger than yourself. Help others, find your calling (meaning versus status or wealth alone), and impact others positively.

  1. Align Actions with Core Values for BodyMind, Heart, and Soul integrity

Fulfillment arises when your daily behavior matches your internal beliefs. Practice integrity by choosing actions based on values and be your authentic self.

  1. Practice Mindful Presence and Gratitude to be in life

Slowing down to appreciate what you already have prevents the “perpetual lack” mindset. Utilize gratitude in moment to stay present, smell the roses to live the fullness of life, and use internal reflection to connect with your inner state.

Have a great year of consciously creating your intentions, stay focused on your end results and live the life you want.

Love, Jim
